The Distillers were an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, CA, fronted by Australian-born Brody Dalle (vocals, guitar). Dalle’s deep, gravelly voice gave the band their distinctive sound. Dalled formed The Distillers in 1998. They endured significant line-up changes and released only 3 albums before breaking up in 2006. The Distillers played addictive punk rock but introduced a more alternative rock sound on their final album.

Girls, guns or zombies? Punk rock girls and guitars!

After The Distillers disbanded, Brody Dalle went on to form alternative rock band Spinnerette with guitarist Tony Bevilacqua (ex-The Distillers). The band released a self-titled album in 2009. Then, in 2014, Dalle released her first solo album Diploid Love. Dalle was once married to Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong and is currently married to Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.

My thoughts… The Distillers are my favorite female-fronted punk rock band! “Hall of Mirrors” is one of my favorite songs! I love those opening lines: “I come down like a hurricane sucked up inside / And I spit out the suffer, yeah.” Brody Dalle, circa 2003, was a vision of punk beauty with her messy black hair, darkened eyes and luscious red lips! She’s still amazingly beautiful now, but she’s blonde!
