When an Indian shaman finds her clinging to life in a shallow grave, he attempts to save her – but something goes horribly wrong. The spirit of a bloodthirsty Apache warrior takes possession of Zoe’s dead body. Now she walks amongst the living, hell-bent on getting revenge. One by one, she slaughters the men who murdered her, while the clock ticks away on her quickly decomposing body.

My thoughts… Avenged is a dark and ultra-violent rape/revenge thriller with a supernatural twist that is (blood-)soaked in Native American folklore. It’s like Steven R. Monroe‘s remake of I Spit on Your Grave (2010) mixed with Bruno Mattei‘s Scalps (1987) meets Alex Proyas‘ The Crow (1994). Michael S. Ojeda isn’t breaking new (hallowed) ground, but Avenged is an insanely entertaining thrill ride that would make a perfect double feature with Marc Fratto‘s Hell Fire (2012)!
