Beyond Doomsday: The Chronicles of Captain Z (2012) was a proposed web series created and directed by Brian K. Hillard for PUSH Adventure Productions. The pilot episode was set to star David B. Johnson, Amy Johnston and Dian Bachar. However, the Kickstarter campaign (here) was unsuccessful funded and the project, it seems, was abandoned.
Ex-Army Captain L. Brandon Scott, better known by the moniker he has given his alter-ego self, Captain Z, is a Steve Irwin meets Bear Grylls-type for the UNDEAD. His mission, to teach others how to plan, prepare for, survive in, and become warriors against the UNDEAD insurgency that now infest our Post Apocalyptic planet.
Watch this episode of Zombie Go Boom guest starring “Captain Z himself” (David B. Johnson) and “his sidekick, baton-twirling Amanda Bauer” (Amy Johnston) …
Zombie Go Boom is a live-action web series that puts “weapons and everyday objects to the test to show you what will kill the undead and help you survive the zombie apocalypse.” It’s like Spike TV’s Deadliest Warrior meets Discovery’s Mythbusters – with zombies!
Watch a Beyond Doomsday: The Chronicles of Captain Z teaser trailer (here). And, here’s a lengthier synopsis of the series …
Set in a Post-Apoctalyptic California town . . .
. . . It is the year 2017, and our world has been overrun by a virus that no one can identify or explain. There has been talk that the cause of the infection was some kind of hyper-terrestrial contagion; an attack upon our planet by some type of unseen alien life form. But again, everything is speculation and guesswork; and at this point, is it even relevant that the true cause of the epidemic be found?
There are other scientific theories about what has happened, but it is all suppositions and assumptions at this point. Religious fanatics say that we had it coming, and to become saved was the only way to survive these dark days – they were wrong, dead wrong.
As a result of this vicious attack, 97 percent of the earth’s human population has been decimated. All of the recent human dead, now an army of pure, motorized aggression. The blitzkrieg incursion has significantly hindered the effectiveness of all energy and communication systems. The people who once maintained the power facilities and communication companies have either fallen to the UNDEAD, or have left their posts in haste, each person doing what they can to keep themselves and their families alive.
Food, water, weapons and other valuable resources have become extremely hard to come by as the remaining pockets of human survivors struggle to hold on; they are tired, scared, hungry and ultimately unsure of what a possible future may hold.
The fact is, it isn’t just the UNDEAD that we have to worry about as we learn to survive on our world Beyond DOOMSDAY . . . there are things much more sinister and infinitely more malevolent that lurk in the shadows . . .
THE ONLY EASY DAY, WAS DOOMSDAY . . .
My thoughts… Well, Beyond Doomsday sounded promising. However, I’d watch anything with Amy Johnston! Or bikini-clad zombies like this one (played by Sash Suicide) …
