Treevenge (2008) is a short Christmas-themed horror film directed by Jason Eisener for Halifax-based Yer Dead Productions. Written by Rob Cotterill and Jason Eisener. Starring Jonathan Torrens, Sarah Dunsworth and Lex Gigeroff.

Treevenge details the experiences and horrifying reality of the lives of Christmas trees. Clearly, for trees, Christmas isn’t the exciting “peace on earth” that is experienced by most. After being hacked down, and shipped away from their homes, they quickly become strung up, screwed into an upright position for all to see, exposed in a humiliation of garish decorations. But this Christmas will be different, this Christmas the trees have had enough, this Christmas the trees will fight back. Treevenge could be a short film about the end of days for Christmas trees, or perhaps, the end of humanity?

Not rated. 16:02 run time. Watch the film here …

My thoughts… Treevenge is awesome Christmas fun – if you like your Christmas fun gory and twisted! Holiday-themed horror doesn’t get any better than this short Canadian film directed by Jason Eisener whose fake Grindhouse trailer Hobo With a Shotgun was crowned the winner of the contest sponsored by the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in 2007 (here) and subsequently expanded into a full length feature (2011) starring Rutger Hauer and Molly Dunsworth. Adorable Molly Dunsworth is also featured in Treevenge along with her lovely sister Sarah.
