Legal Tender (2007) is a fake grindhouse trailer. Submitted for a contest sponsored by the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival to promote the 2007 release of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s double feature Grindhouse.
This is Kelly. She’s a good girl. From a good home. She does her school work. Does her chores. And, at night, does anything for… Legal Tender! She’s living for the moment, taking what she wants – what she deserves! But when the money runs out… so does she! Legal Tender! It’s what she wants! It’s what she gets! It’s what she is! Hers is a tawdry world where life is cheap and anything is for sale! This film pulls the sheets back to reveal the seedy underbelly of America where one language is spoken… violence! From wholesome households to roadside motels, the seed of the counterculture has born bitter fruit! Now a young girl lives the Godless consequences of long-haired immorality. She’s finding out the rough and hard way there’s no such thing as free love! It’s got to be paid for in blood, tears, and… Legal Tender! When this suburban strumpet sets a deadly game of revenge in motion, brother battles brother! Bound by blood, divided by lust! It’s winner take all with the prize… Legal Tender!
Not rated. 1:51 run time. Watch the film here …
My thoughts… Legal Tender is a 70’s-inspired “good-girl-gone-bad” movie that is so authentic you’ll think the filmmakers dug up the actual trailer for some obscure film and called it their own!
