My thoughts… Last Life is a wonderful web series that is highly recommended for fans of the urban fantasy web series Skye of the Damned (here)! Elesha Barnette and Kathy DiStefano are incredibly talented (and beautiful) women whose Puma Squad is my favorite accidental discovery of the year (so far)! I can’t wait to see what else they have to offer! I found Last Life when I stumbled on the short lesbian film Lovestruck (here) but I’m not sure if Last Life is a lesbian web series! Sure, soul mates Sloane (Kathy DiStefano) and Taylor (Nancy Cooney) are lovers who have lived many lives but Sloane has been a guy through all of his past lives. He was Rick, Taylor’s boyfriend, when he was killed three years earlier by The Alina but he broke the rules and jumped into Sloane, a girl who was at the hospital where his body was taken. He took Sloane’s life at the expense of having to live his last life just to be with his soul mate Taylor now instead of being reincarnated again later. It’s an intriguing premise, a beautiful one even – if Sloane and Taylor weren’t actually dark witches destined for a path of destruction! But are they really lesbians? Well, they are now, I suppose. Anyway… Last Life is well-written, well-acted and well-produced – that’s quite an achievement for The Puma Squad’s first web series! In fact, with network financing, Last life would be perfect for The CW in 2016 just like Elesha Barnette joked in this video (here)! Be sure to check out all the video extras after watching the series. Oh, and I would love to see more of Elesha Barnette in front of the camera in 2016! I think I’m crushing on her!
