Leela-Brazil-01

Leela is a female-fronted Brazilian alternative pop/rock band from Rio de Janeiro formed in 2000. They are Bianca Jhordão (voice, guitar, theremin), Rodrigo Brandão (guitar, vocals), and Tchago Kochenborger (bass). Leela is influenced by American artists such as Weezer and Nirvana, as well as “the icons of Rio’s independent music.” Recommended for fans of Brazilian artists such as Pitty, Lipstick, Fake Number, Belle, Luxúria/Megh Stock, etc.

My thoughts… Leela‘s sound blends the grungy alt-rock of Pitty with the addictive pop/rock of Fake Number and, as such, they are my #3 favorite femaled-fronted Brazilian rock band! Pitty and Fake Number, of course, take the top spots! Check out the rest on MHE (here).
