The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Chicken Run (2015) is a fan film written, produced & directed by Gary J. Tunnicliffe. Starring Melanie Lastrina as Crissy, Dave Mattey as Leatherface and Dominic Quarto as Bobby. Chicken Run is “a four minute, brutal excursion into terror inspired by Tobe Hooper’s 1974 seminal classic.”

For Crissy, waking up was the beginning of the nightmare, discovering her hands and feet bound, her body drenched in sweat from the brutal Texas heat and her brother Bobby, clinging to life impaled on a nearby meat hook. These were the ‘visible clues’ to horror that lay ahead, the ‘audio clue’ was the growing sound of a revving chainsaw getting louder and louder, closer and closer, only hinting at the terrifying fate and formidable aggressor on the other side of the ominous, gleaming metal door of the room in which she was trapped…and then the door opened.

My thoughts… Yes, Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a classic. Its sequels, remakes and sequels of remakes, however, have all been just kinda good [Marcus Nispel’s 2003 remake with Jessica Beal who looked amazing in a pair of low-cut bell-bottom jeans!] or kinda bad [the rest]. None have ever captured the raw terror of the original. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Chicken Run does, in fact, capture that terror! It’s a good fan film, for sure. However, I like this film mostly because of Melanie Lastrina! She’s a great scream queen – and so amazingly beautiful! She only has two credits on IMDb: Chicken Run and another short film called Scorpion (2013)! Watch the latter film’s teaser (here). I must see it!
