The Gate (2016) is a short action/fantasy film written & directed by Kellie Madison for Madison Films. Starring Amy Johnston, Cecep Arif Rahman [The Raid 2], Xin Wuku, Malay Kim, Catherine Parker, and Chalet Lizette Brannan. The short film is a crowd-funded “pilot pitch teaser” for a proposed TV series (Kickstarter/Indiegogo).

Martial arts master turned superhero, Cassie Weston, uncovers a dark underworld of Indonesian crime while attempting to save her sister’s life. This reignites an epic battle with her equally matched rivals over Cassie’s secret pathway to ultimate power… The Gate.

My thoughts… Amy Johnston, of course, is my favorite stunt actress! She’s a bad-ass beauty who rightfully should be the world’s biggest female action star. But, alas, moviegoers prefer their action heroes to be men! Silly fools! The Gate is more proof why they’re all wrong! It is another awesome showcase for Amy Johnston’s exceptional martial arts skills as well as her capable acting abilities. Someone please cast this talented woman in a big Hollywood blockbuster!

Amy Johnston performed stunts and/or stunt-doubled in recent films like Deadpool and Suicide Squad as well as my favorite new MTV series Sweet/Vicious. I’m still waiting for Chris Nahon’s as-of-yet-still-unreleased Lady Bloodfight and Miguel A. Ferrer’s upcoming Female Fight Club (with Cortney Palm and Dolph Lundgren). Watch the trailer for Lady Bloodfight (here) and the trailer for Female Fight Club (here). I’m also looking forward to seeing Barry Battles’ short film Night Watch for which Amy Johnston stunt-doubled. Check out some poster artwork below.
