My thoughts… Night Out is an excellent short crime thriller from Finnish filmmaker Tuomas Hautamäki. He also made the awesome Sin City fan film No Ordinary Love (here). He is my new favorite indie filmmaker. Night Out presents a twisty tale of betrayal and revenge with three very lovely women – well, four lovely woman, actually. There’s Olivia (Salla Vierelä), Cassie (Essi Haapalahti), Jules (Laura Linna) and – spoiler alert – Charlie (Maria Kunnari). Vierelä, Linna and Kunnari were also in No Ordinary Love. Laura Linna as Jules is my favorite in Night Out. She is so adorable with that punky, blonde boy-cut! I can’t believe she’s the same girl who played the waitress in No Ordinary Love! Anyway, Night Out ends by hinting at the possibility of seeing this anti-heroic trio (Olivia, Cassie and Jules) in more crime capers. Yes, more please! Oh, and be sure to watch Hautamäki’s entertaining VXF featurette to learn about how much was involved in making Night Out look so good.
